About

Who I Am

I’m Felipe Gonzalez Roldan, a technology professional bridging the worlds of software development, artificial intelligence, and education. With a background in Mechatronics Engineering and a Master’s in Industrial Automation, I’ve spent over 8 years building AI systems, developing software solutions, and teaching the next generation of programmers. Currently, I work as a Senior Python Developer at Globant while maintaining my commitment to education as a university lecturer.

Current Work

Globant (Sep 2025 - Present)

SSr. Python Developer

Software Engineer for Verily Life Sciences, working with Python, Golang, GCP, and modern testing practices.

Tech Stack: Python, Golang, GCP, Integration tests, Unit testing, gRPC, FHIR, GitHub actions

Seguros Bolivar (Jul 2022 - May 2025)

Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Aug 2017 - Aug 2025)

University Lecturer

Taught Computer Programming and Object-Oriented Programming to cohorts of 100+ students. My course repositories on GitHub have gained 60-114 stars each, with students from multiple universities using them.

Courses: Computer Programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Industrial Robotics, Robotic Platforms, Servomechanisms, Sensors & Actuators

Teaching Philosophy: Everything on GitHub, live coding over slides, peer learning through code reviews, project-based learning with real problems.

Background

I was born in Bogotá, Colombia. My interest in engineering started in childhood—I was always amazed by robots on TV, cars on highways, and the simple appliances at home.

Education

Master’s in Industrial Automation (2016-2019) Universidad Nacional de Colombia

  • GPA: 4.5/5.0
  • Thesis: Offline trajectory generation for industrial manipulators (collision-free paths using metaheuristic algorithms)
  • Relevant courses: Industrial Robotics, Mobile Robotics, Optimization Techniques, Control Theory

Bachelor’s in Mechatronics Engineering (2008-2013) Universidad Nacional de Colombia

  • GPA: 4.4/5.0
  • Thesis: Design of a delta parallel robot
  • Joined UNRobot research group, designed and built a delta robot that was later manufactured based on my proposal

Previous Experience

Colsein (Nov 2014 - Jul 2017) Research and Development Engineer

Designed and implemented technological innovation projects using TRIZ methodology. Co-designed, built, and commissioned a 3D laser scanner for fuel tank calibration in less than 18 months, resulting in the calibration of 8 tanks with 3D rebuild model within mm resolution.

Tech Stack: Python, C, MATLAB, Excel, .NET, Solidworks, Geomagic Design, Autodesk Recap
